peiseySlide.jpgPeisey Vallandry is a small friendly all year resort within the Les Arcs domain with a traditional village setting yet with fabulous connections to the whole of the huge Paradiski domain, one of the largest ski areas in the world. The Vanoise Express linking La Plagne and Les Arcs arrives right into the heart of Peisey and with the choice of that or fast direct lifts to Les Arcs, guests can enjoy quieter and more authentic  surroundings whilst having easy access to an enormous variety of slopes suitable for all levels .  The resort is made up of a number of small villages and hamlets, Peisey, Vallandry, Nancroix, Plan Peisey and Landry situated between 700 to 1600m in altitude.  Of these, Peisey, Plan Peisey, and Vallandry are the main ski villages as they are linked directly with the Paradiski area.

Peisey itself is situated between 1300 et 1600 m in altitude and is made up of a number of small villages and hamlets : Le Villaret, Moulin, Nancroix, la Chenarie, Pont-Baudin ( with a fabulous nordic ski centre), les Arches, Plan-Peisey. Each has a slightly different atmosphere.

peiseyDistance.jpgPeisey Nancroix has an ancient centre with attractive winding roads and alleys and traditional savoyade buildings huddling around the chapel. It’s a friendly village with families and farmers living all year and where you are quite likely to hear cows mooing from barns under the houses. It is quiet so you won’t find discos or loud nightlife, but does have it’s own boulangerie, boucherie, fromagerie, ski hire shop, newsagent, small supermarket and a few shops selling local craft as well as two or three bars.

It has direct access to the ski slopes via PesiseySlope.jpga bucket lift , Le Lonzagne, which connects in 7 minutes to the heart of Plan Peisey, arriving just by the ski school, gardarie, fast 6-seater chairlift that runs from the middle of Plan Peisey into Les Arcs domain as well as beside the Vanoise Express linking les Arcs with la Plagne - the two areas making up the enormous Paradiski domain. There is a ski bus stop just opposite the chalet which has a free half hourly navette to the bucket lift, or to the nordic ski centre at Pont-Baudin.

Pistes at Peisey

In winter Pont-Baudin is the main departure point for nordic skiing, snow shoes, sledding and winter walking (especially the sentier to the glacial cirque at Rosuel with the promise of wildlife and birds to spot). It is also the place to enjoy sledge rides pulled by horses, dogs or reindeer. In summer it is a fabulous activity centre with horseriding at  Le Fer à Cheval ranch, the Gli' Air forest acrobatic park, Le Palais de la Mine (the Palace of the mine) an old argentiferous graphite mine, “l eau salée" (saltwater) children playground and tennis and donkey rental at Le Baudet Malin.

Peiseywalking.jpgThe lifts are open in summer from 8th July - 2nd September including the bucket lift from the village, so there is easy access for mountain biking VTT or enduro as well as providing direct entry to the Vanoise National Park for walking, climbing, glacier walking, fabulous wildlife and birdwatching including the largest colony of Alpine Ibex in France and 20 pairs of golden eagles to be found.

The bike park is famous throughout the world with 150km of sign posted routes from 2600 to 800m elevation to find on a map or on the Paradiski Yuge app and 25 downhill, enduro, cross country tracks as well as paths and connections accessible to all.

For water lovers there is the thrill of White water rafting on Isere riverwhitewater activities with rafting, kayaking, hydrospeed, canyoning and more on the Isére, or the quiet of fishing in the many lakes and gorgeous supervised swimming lakes at Aime and Bozel. Bozel Plage makes an entire family day out, with football pitches, tennis courts, basketball, boules, zip wire, childrens playground and picnic and bbq areas all in gorgeous scenery and surrounded by lovely walks. Swimming pools can be found at Montchavin at the other end of the Vanoise Express or the very lovely and very new Mille8 is at les Arcs with a fabulous swimming complex and gorgeous mountain views.

Golf is close by at what must be one of the most beautiful courses in France. Set on the mountainside overlooking the Upper Tarentaise Valley, the les Arcs Golf Club has a choice of 2 courses: the 18-hole par 70 le Chantel course (5497 metres) or  the 9-hole par 27 le Beauchet course (1045 metres). You can access the start using the lift system or it is a short drive.

Access to the village is easy with the Eurostar arriving directly into nearby Moutiers or Bourg St Maurice. Or it is a short drive up from the main road from Moutiers to Bourg St Maurice and Val d'Isere.
